Fall Trend Report

Fall Trend Report

Now that fall has really begun to set in (and winter is right around the corner), we've  basically worn all of our best seasonal fits. Lucky for you, we've got some insight on this season's trends which can help you come up with a new and exciting look. All the information we’re bringing you today is straight from the Worth Global Style Network (WGSN). WGSN is a professional forecasting site subscribed to by the biggest, most well-known brands across the globe. WGSN forecasts everything from color and patterns to formal wear and children's wear as far out as 2032. The data shown in this forecast is so exclusive that only designers who have the resources to subscribe to the site are provided access. As an apparel design student, it brings me so much excitement to explore this resource and share its information with our audience!

This season's key drivers, or trends pushing the season, include pretty feminine, boxy, oversized styling, and radiant red.

along with stripes, polka dots are huge this season

There are many ways to embrace your "Pretty-feminine" side. “Pretty-feminine” entails pieces that portray traditionally feminine and delicate details. Whether you prefer a simpler touch like scalloped edges and longer skirt lengths, or you enjoy the details of embroidery and animal print, you can embrace this season's trends in your way. Professional trend forecasters tell us that while animal skins have dipped in the market, cheetah print has risen to a whopping 201%, closely followed by cowhide. In other pattern news, stripes are projected to grow a fair amount with horizontal stripes taking prominent strides. Short sleeves and airy knits are driving cardigans and layering pieces this fall. Cardigans were a top performer for the spring to summer transition and are expected to remain stable throughout the transition from fall to winter. We're also continuing to see a rising interest in bows but beware as this trend will likely see a quick drop in later seasons.

With all that being said, I'm sure you're wondering how you can embrace these trends without breaking the bank. Adding embroidery details to your favorite pieces is an easy way to stay on trend this fall. Beyond that, investing in a silk midi or maxi skirt is a quality piece that can be styled for all occasions for seasons to come. Feeling the autumn chill? Try layering with some light cardigans. Or, maybe you’re looking for a diy moment this season. Hosting a tote decorating night with some friends featuring floral prints or lace details is a great way to embrace the season!

how do you guys feel about skirts over pants? we love it

Oversized and boxy silhouettes are projected to transition with us into the new season. The boxy, baggier details create a more masculine silhouette which, when juxtaposed with the subtle feminine details, will create balance within the look. Roomier pieces continue to lead pants trends for all occasions, from casual to formal wear. Mismatched styling and boxier silhouettes can be seen in pieces from waistcoats and blazers to wide-led trousers and various denim wear. Wide-leg jeans specifically are forecasted to see a 38% spike in interest and are expected to grow in popularity as the season wears on. Now is the time to upcycle your baggy t-shirts by cropping them (have a little diy moment or if you don’t trust yourself with scissors you can always get them tailored) or tuck them into the front of wide-leg jeans. As for your investment in this trend, consider buying a quality wide-leg trouser from brands like Uniqlo, Abercrombie, etc. Whether you choose a formal pair for business or opt for jeans for a more casual look, wide-leg pants will remain on trend for several seasons to come.

Let's talk about color! Interest in neutrals remains consistently high. Yellow sees a peak in interest this season, but the star of the show is Radiant Red. From formal to active wear we see a healthy demand of bold red tones following spring summer 2024. Add a touch of red to your look with a red pair of sunglasses or embrace the boldness with a radiant red sweater or dress. The pattern claiming the autumn season this year is cheetah print, leopard print, and believe it or not, cowhide! These prints are skyrocketing in interest across the board and are seen everywhere from skirts and jackets to printed handbags and scarves. Be warned, cowhide trends do not mean pulling out your purple cow print pants from 2020, this season we're looking for clean, natural-looking prints that add a western touch to any look.
