The unraveling of Siren Basics gatekeeping. A photo diary.

Hiii my name is Brenda Liang, I'm the co-founder, creative director and designer at Siren Basics. I impulsively decided to write this blog post partly because I realized I should stop gatekeeping the super cool-fresh-sexy-mysterious things Siren allows me to experience, and partly because I miss my OG blogging days. I firmly believe my stint as a blogger from elementary-high school has been building me to this very post. I used to air out my 1st grade drama with my bestie on Blogger, so this feels like a full circle moment.

It is wet, cold and disgusting here in the East Village today and for me, that means doomscrolling through my camera roll, and finding a couple gems that deserve a moment of appreciation. After crashing out at the turn of Pluto, I think I'm ready to reclaim my throat chakra and share my first blog post in six years.

In true blogger form, here is my what's in my bag.

Mesh thongs, a lavender city bag, sunglasses, kitten heels and probably 10 lip glosses. I don't carry my wallet around anymore. I love my boyfriend so much.

This is Shana Cave, the chillest most talented jeweler you'll probably ever meet, and me at her studio...taking crotch pics..with bedazzled flower earrings she made.

A typical Sunday evening as we prepare for an upcoming holiday pop-up. More details on that soon

Which reminds me of this thong tree we made at our pop-up together in Soho last year

And this mesh thong chandelier at our joint pop-up earlier this month

I was 12 when I bought my first thong from VS PINK. It was absolutely iconic - baby pink lace waistband with a tie-dye cotton fabric. It's exactly what I needed to ace my theology quiz. I remember my dad picked me up from the mall and all I could think was oh my god the presence of a thong is in this car!!!

Funny how things work. I now am a self-proclaimed Panty Princess sitting on the Thong Throne.

Thank you for your time on reading my curatorial blogging debut in the Siren universe. And as a parting gift, I leave you with this.
